6 days to go and Team Nkegete is frantically preparing the last things we need to do before we fly next Friday.
We have put a lot of thought into logistics and all being
equal we should now arrive with all our mosquito nets, plug adaptors, tools,
sunscreen, malaria tablets, PPE and everything we need. Everyone has had their
vaccinations and we have our hostel booked for our arrival.
It has been a fantastic effort from everyone to get all the
kit we need in preparation for our arrival. Thank you so much to our wonderful
suppliers who have donated everything we need for this to be a successful trip.
Look how great they have all been:
· Rock fall have donated all our boots and socks.
· Arco have donated all our PPE, including Thick
Socks, Hi-Vis Polos, Working Trousers, Hard Hats + Chin Straps, Gloves, Safety
Glasses & Goggles, Knee Pads, Dust Mask (FFP3), Over Ear Defenders and Ear
Plugs.
· Lyreco have donated stationary, post-it-notes,
stickers, white boards and banners.
· Barretts have donated Wellington Boots,
Self-Retracting Lifeline, Dewalt Battery , Power Tool Battery Charger , Tape
Measures, Hand clamps, Walkie Talkies, Denso Tape, U Clamps, Kit Bags, bolt
croppers, Grinder, Concreter's Nipper
· Gallldris have donated Harnesses, Emergency Rescue Ladder, Extension Cords, carabiner, First Aid Bag, Impact driver, Impact Drill, Tripod, Staff, Sockets , Paint Brushes, Wrenc, Metal Drill Bits, socket adaptor, Grinder Disc.
We are so grateful for all the support we have received from
different people in the construction industry. It warms your heart to see how
everyone pulls together for a good cause. We cannot wait to get on site and see
the positive impact of construction.
We presented our logistics plan to the team over at Bridges
to Prosperity yesterday and they were so impressed with the amount of donations
we have received. It is definitely not being taken for granted. It was great to collate all the things we
have learnt, completed and achieved into a presentation because it comes to
quite an impressive total now. Especially alongside our community engagement
plans such as the BBQ, school visit and Umaganda!
We have also purchased some t-shirts to give to the
community when we arrive to thank them for their help with the bridge and
remind them of this achievement. We love wearing our logo on our shirt when we
do fundraising and we hope they will feel the same.
6 days to go, lots to do, very exciting!
