After a tough day yesterday where i spent a good few hours in the "smallest tent on site"...... today was always going to be a better experience, but never could have believed Day 4 would be so amazing.....

The day kicked off with our regular Rwandan singing as a welcome and a warm-up with some 00's dance moves led by Ali.....

My day proper started with a safety tour with Katerina - just a few actions ..... the site is a credit to Team Nkegete and all our B2P and local team......  before the two of us masked-up with the Right Bank Rebels to tackle the stinky job of priming and applying Denso tape to coat the buried cables in the abutment ready for the fill.

However, just like my construction planning.... chaos ensued with new and changed activities as we needed to react to keep ahead of the Left Bank Gang led by Jared, the "king of the swingers".

The target was to complete the installation of the 79 swingers ready for the decking - all in 8 hours due to our project BBQ as well as "Drone Day" 1 - meaning best behaviour.

The Barbeque put every site lunch ever to shame..... the local team, already working so well with us, were now as one.  Food, dance, fizzy pop, smiles and tears..... friendships established and selfies on demand, memories that will stay with me forever and when i come back to Nkegete one day with my family and it will be today I will remember. I now feel I know every member of the team - in fact I'm sure I'm more likely to remember the site team than my own team 😅  It was lovely to be asked to be picked to share a photo with some of the team and time to talk socially with Eric and Ernest - so far from home yet our lives are so similar.

Shout out to the cooks....mountains of food for almost 50 ..... unsurprisingly whatever was served was dutifully swallowed up.

The motivation and energy carried us into the afternoon where I supported some innovative solutions to overcome the challenges reflecting our team strength to get the swingers from East to West across the Gasayo River.

I was fortunate to once again spend time engaging with the local children near the temporary construction bridge - so many proudly wearing their Team Nkegete stickers - it made me think of my own wonderful children so far from home.

And yes we achieved our target to complete the swingers to launch more music and celebrations as the day closed....if there is ever an example of One Team = One Goal it was today!

The question ....How do we beat Day 4?  The answer: more singing, more safe construction, and early finish and 2 days rest in Rubavu.
